digital signage GLOSSARY

Proximity Marketing

Proximity Marketing is the practice of delivering personalized content and offers when an audience is physically near a display, product or venue. In digital signage, proximity marketing is powered by a combination of BLE beacons, NFC tags, Wi-Fi positioning, mobile geofencing, and computer vision, all coordinated by the platform's trigger engine.

In Livesignage, proximity marketing scenarios are built in the Experience Designer through the Flow engine: a proximity event triggers a coordinated response on the nearest display and, optionally, on the visitor's mobile via Progressive Web App. The combination of proximity triggers and measurable mobile conversion is a major contributor to the +67% conversion lift reported by Livesignage customers — and a core capability of the Phygital license tier.

Use Cases

Proximity Marketing scenarios across industries:

- Museums and culture: location-aware content adapting to visitor position.
- Hospitality: in-property contextual content based on guest movement.
- Trade shows and events: booth-aware mobile content during floor navigation.
- Smart city: geofenced public information at plazas, transit hubs and event areas.
